Auto Repair Across Lane County, Oregon

A Springfield shop serving Eugene, Creswell, Cottage Grove, Coburg, Veneta and Lane County. Drive times, routes, and the vehicles we see from each town.

One shop, at 3436 Olympic St in Springfield, near I-5 exit 194A. Most of Lane County reaches us in under half an hour. This page is the honest version of a service-area map: real drive times, the route you would actually take, and what we see coming from each direction.

We have one location, and we say so

Plenty of shops list eight towns as though they had eight buildings. We have one bay and one address. What follows is how far you are from it, not a claim to be based somewhere we are not.

That matters if you are searching for a shop "in Eugene" and land here. We are across the river in Springfield. For most of Eugene that is ten to eighteen minutes, which is often less than crossing Eugene itself at five o'clock.

Drive times from each town

From Distance Typical drive Route
Springfield Home shop I-5 exit 194A
Eugene 6 miles 10 min Franklin Blvd, I-105 or I-5
Coburg 10 miles 12 min I-5 south from exit 199
Pleasant Hill 11 miles 16 min OR-58 west
Creswell 13 miles 16 min I-5 north from exit 182
Junction City 15 miles 22 min OR-99 south
Veneta 18 miles 26 min OR-126 east
Cottage Grove 22 miles 26 min I-5 north from exit 174

Add time at commute hours, and considerably more on a University of Oregon home game day, when Autzen traffic changes how the whole east side of Eugene moves.

Towns with their own page

Three have enough of their own detail to warrant it — different roads, different vehicles, different failures.

Eugene. The largest share of our non-Springfield work. Whiteaker, South Hills, Bethel, Churchill, Santa Clara and River Road. Heavy on Subaru, Prius and VW, plus the occasional Sprinter van. Ten minutes from campus straight out Franklin Boulevard.

Creswell. Sixteen minutes up I-5, no surface roads and no traffic lights in between. Commuter cars, Ford Rangers, and a steady run of farm-use F-250s from Oregon Ave and Cloverdale Road.

Cottage Grove. Twenty-two miles and about twenty-six minutes north on I-5 from exit 174. Row River Road drivers, towing wear, and a lot of second-opinion diagnostics because the nearest alternatives are limited.

Towns we serve without a separate page

Coburg, Veneta, Pleasant Hill and Junction City. No dedicated page, because we would be writing the same page three more times with the town name swapped — and a page like that helps nobody.

Coburg is worth one note: it is the closest town to us with a real concentration of diesel trucks and classic-car work. Ours is the nearest non-dealer shop on that stretch of I-5, though heavy diesel is outside what we take on.

What the roads around here do to cars

Local conditions show up in the failures, and they are specific enough to plan around.

Rain, not salt. ODOT does not salt the Eugene-Springfield metro. What corrodes cars here is forty-plus inches of rain a year and constant damp, which attacks brake lines, fuel lines and electrical grounds rather than sheet metal. See Oregon rain and underbody corrosion.

Potholes after the wet season. Alignment, bent wheels and damaged struts spike every spring. A pull that appears the day after a hard hit is usually one of those three.

The passes. OR-58 over Willamette Pass and OR-126 east put sustained load on cooling systems and brakes that never shows up in valley driving. Worth checking before you go.

No DEQ testing. Lane County sits outside Oregon's emissions testing boundaries. There is no testing station in Eugene or Springfield, so a check engine light here is a repair question, not a compliance deadline.
