Six days, Saturday included. A check of published hours for five Springfield shops on Main Street in September 2026 found every one of them closed on Saturday. Where the weekend is the only time you can leave a car, Saturday is the day to book. It opens at ten rather than eight, so there is less of it to go round and ringing early in the week gets you a better slot. What we can realistically finish on a Saturday.
When to call, and when to write
Anything you believe is unsafe goes on the phone. Everything else gets a better answer in writing.
Call (541) 641-8877 for a brake pedal going soft or long, a flashing check engine light, steering that has changed feel, a wheel noise that has gone from occasional to constant, or anything smoking or leaking fuel. Those need a voice and a quick answer rather than a form.
Write for everything else. A typed description survives. It can be read twice, it reaches whoever knows that model best, and it does not depend on you recalling the detail while standing in a parking lot with the engine running. Both routes reach the same person.
The form asks for your name and email so a reply can reach you, and for a description of the fault. The phone field is optional, and filling it in is often the difference between an email exchange and a two-minute call that settles the question. The service list is a starting point rather than a diagnosis, so pick the closest match and put the symptom in the message box.
Finding us on Olympic Street
Auto Repair Springfield is an automobile repair shop at 3436 Olympic St, a few blocks east of the Walmart Supercenter at 2659 Olympic St, which is the landmark most people navigate by. Olympic Street runs east from Mohawk Boulevard across north Springfield, and number 3436 sits in the 97478 stretch.
From Eugene the usual run is OR-126 east and then north to Olympic, ten to eighteen minutes from most of the city and frequently quicker than crossing Eugene at five o'clock. From Creswell it is I-5 north and then east, about eighteen minutes. From Cottage Grove the same route runs twenty-five to thirty. Thurston is a straight west run of a few minutes. From the Gateway area, including The Shoppes at Gateway and PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, come south and east onto Olympic rather than back out to the interstate.

What to tell us about the fault
The answer you get back is only as good as the description you send. Six things do most of the work.
Year, make, model, rough mileage. A 2012 Outback at 190,000 miles and a 2021 Outback at 30,000 produce completely different shortlists for the same noise.
What it sounds or feels like. Click, hum, grind, clunk, shudder, whine. Say where you feel it: through the seat, through the pedal, through the steering wheel. Be literal rather than technical. "Like a playing card in bicycle spokes" is a better clue than "bearing noise", because the second one is already a guess.
When it happens. Cold start only, after twenty minutes, over bumps, under braking, while turning, above a certain speed, only under acceleration.
Turning which way, where it is turn-related. A click that appears turning left and not right narrows the possibilities immediately.
When it started, and whether it is getting worse. Sudden onset and slow creep point in different directions, and a noise that arrived the week after other work points somewhere specific.
Any warning lights, steady or flashing. A flashing check engine light means stop driving as soon as it is safe to pull over.
A worked example of a message that gets a useful reply: "2015 Forester, about 140,000. Clicking from the front left, only when I turn left and accelerate out of a junction, nothing turning right. Started maybe three weeks ago, getting louder. No lights."
That description narrows the job to a couple of possibilities before the car arrives. Phone recordings help too, so send the file where you can catch the noise. Thirty seconds of audio from inside the car is worth several paragraphs.
What happens after you get in touch
You get a reply with one of three things: an answer, two follow-up questions, or a time to bring the car in. Nobody sends back a price, because diagnosing a fault properly means having the car on a lift, and a firm number produced from a paragraph of text would be a guess.
Where what you describe sounds unsafe to drive, the reply says so first, before anything about scheduling.
When you come in, the car is inspected and diagnosed, then you get a written estimate with parts and labor separated and items sorted into unsafe, should be scheduled soon, and worth watching. Nothing starts until you approve it. A second fault found behind the first stops the work and starts a phone call with a revised figure before anything continues.
