Use the form below and describe what the car is doing. You will get a reply with either an answer, a couple of follow-up questions, or a time to bring it in. If the symptom sounds unsafe to drive on, we will say so in the reply rather than waiting until you arrive.
What to tell us about the fault
The quality of a remote answer depends almost entirely on the quality of the description. These six things do most of the work:
- Year, make, model, and rough mileage. A 2012 Outback at 190,000 miles and a 2021 Outback at 30,000 miles produce completely different shortlists for the same noise.
- What it sounds or feels like. Click, hum, grind, clunk, shudder, vibration through the seat or through the steering wheel. Be as literal as you can.
- When it happens. Cold start only, after twenty minutes, over bumps, under braking, while turning, above a certain speed.
- Turning which way, if it is turn-related. A click that appears turning left and not right narrows things down immediately.
- When it started, and whether it is getting worse. Sudden onset and slow creep point in different directions.
- Any warning lights. Steady or flashing matters. A flashing check engine light means stop driving.
If it is a noise you can record on your phone at the moment it happens, send that too. Thirty seconds of audio from inside the car is worth several paragraphs of description.
After you get in touch
We read it, and reply with a plan rather than a price guess. Diagnosing a fault properly means having the car, so anyone quoting a firm number from a paragraph of text is guessing.
When you come in, we inspect, diagnose, and then send you a written estimate with parts and labor separated and the work sorted by urgency. Nothing gets started until you approve it. If we find a second problem behind the first once the job is underway, work stops and we call you with a revised figure before continuing.
